Remembering The First Lady of Animation

September 18, 2017

Remembering the great JUNE FORAY who passed just a few weeks ago. Today would have been her 100th birthday. This legendary voice artist advanced and forever changed the field of animation with her tireless efforts behind the microphone, as well as behind the scenes. A founding member of ASIFA, the Animation Guild and the Animation Board for AMPAS, we have June to thank for the establishment of the Oscar's 'Best Animated Feature Film' category!
I am deeply honored and forever grateful to have the First Lady of animation featured in the foreword of "Ink & Paint – The Women of Walt Disney's Animation" I hope it serves as a lasting tribute to this extraordinary trailblazer! Chuck Jones said it best: "June Foray is not the female Mel Blanc...
Mel Blanc is the male June Foray! "Hokie-Smokes" & Godspeed, dear June!
